Palisades Park is 700+ acres of dedicated conservation parkland just minutes from downtown Spokane.

 

Palisades is a Spokane City park available for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and nature observation. It also provides captivating views of the city of Spokane. Friends of Palisades is a 501(c)3 organization that helps conserve and maintain the natural beauty of the park.

Friends of Palisades are park stewards.

In 2002, Friends of Palisades was formed as a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, preservation, and maintenance of the park. We work to (1) educate the public about the park through various programs and events, (2) present park issues to the City, and (3) increase the size of the park whenever possible. We bring together park volunteers and supporters for work party events, social activities, and to address any safety concerns.

And we need and welcome your help.  Please contribute to the Friends of Palisades so that we may continue to keep the park safe, healthy, and clean.

Spend a morning with Friends of Palisades and the Inland Northwest Land Conservancy helping to keep Palisades Park spiffy for all!

Arrive at 8:30 am for Hot Beverages and pastry. Clean-up runs from 9:00 am to noon. Meet at Greenwood Rd and Rimrock Dr parking lot.

Bring gloves and prepare for weather conditions.

Friend of Palisades will provide garbage bags.

Meet at 9:00 am, Greenwood Rd and Rimrock Dr parking lot.

Participation is limited to 15 persons.

Dr. Chad Pritchard (EWU Geology professor) shows and tells the highlights of the geological events that formed Palisades Park as we know it today … at the leading edge of the “Channeled Scablands”.

We’ll meet at 9:00am at the Greenwood Parking area. Please make sure you’re dressed for the weather and are wearing sturdy hiking boots or shoes!

Building a New Trail

Building a New Trail

Friends of Palisades teams up with Washington Trails Association, Inland Northwest Land Conservancy and the Ponderosa Chapter of Back Country Horsemen to establish a brand new trail. This will be a loop route on the newly-acquired “Rimock to Riverside” additions to Palisades Park. Lots of fun with picks and shovels with fellow trail enthusiasts!

Spend a morning with Friends of Palisades and the Inland Northwest Land Conservancy helping to keep Palisades Park spiffy for all!

Meet at the Greenwood Road parking area and find our event canopies and snack tables near the trailhead.

Arrive around 8:30am to join us for a pastry and a hot beverages and hear a little update on plans for the park. We’ll start the clean-up around 9:00am and wrap up by Noon.

Friends of Palisades will provide garbage bags, snacks, and beverages. Please plan to bring your own gloves and weather-appropriate clothing and footwear!

We need you!

Ours is an ongoing volunteer effort to ensure this natural park is preserved, protected, and maintained.  Although Palisades feels like it’s miles from City center, it sits just outside of Spokane. The amazing quiet of nature blankets this park, providing critical wildlife habitat and open space. Join our team and become a member of the Friend of Palisades Park or volunteer to help during our Annual Clean-Up or to assist in other events, such as trail maintenance, weed pulling and forestry work.
